Deceptive and destructive simplicity. This is a novel that hurts more with what isn't said and what's implied than what's laid bare (even in horrifying and incredible strokes of literary artistry). I don't think it's quite perfect, but a masterwork doesn't have to be, at least in this case. Molto bello, ogni volta la peste diventa un espediente per raccontare dell'essere umano, specialmente alla fine quando il dottore afferma che grazie all'epidemia ha capito che nell'animo umano ci sono più cose belle che brutte.
Rieux rimane un personaggio memorabile e la morte di Tarrou mi ha colpito più di quella del bambino Orthon, ma come dice Camus i morti della speranza sono quelli che fanno più male; lo scambio tra il dottore e Paneloux assomiglia ad una delle mie tanti crisi mistiche, un p ...more
