I gave this book five stars despite not liking any of the characters. I pitied Anna Karenina's husband but found him rather cold and no prize. Anna herself epitomizes the line in John "Moon" Martin's 1978 song "Bad Case of Loving You" (the late Robert Palmer's 1979 hit cover of which is probably the best known recorded version) that "a pretty face don't make no pretty heart". OMG , I don't understand why anyone would like this book. I kept going because I've wanted to read it for 20 years. I can now say I've read it, but I hated it ! I usually don't finish books I don't like, so it was agonizing to me. ...more
