What Members Thought
I have spent most of this year trying to wring out every truth, every grain of wisdom, and every word of meaning from this rapturous beauty but I still feel like I’ve barely grasped the superficial. Anna Karenina is a world unto itself. It left me feeling like Tolstoy delivered this gift directly to me so that I may uncover some cosmic secret of human nature.
(That’s probably a terribly cliche exaggeration but, you’ll have to forgive me, I’m still on a high from finishing it an hour ago.)

Well, that was long. A very long story about the idle rich. I understand why the revolution was so successful in Russia; I wanted to kill many of these boring pointless rich folks as well. And the point? The point after 600+ pages is that the only thing t hat gives life purpose and meaning is faith in God. So I only gave it 3 stars because I can't figure out if I loved this book or absolutely hated it. The writing is beautiful and some scenes took my breath away...the horse race was incredible! I think it is the subject matter and the tragic characters that made me uncomfortable as to say I hated this book. They are so well crafted that I felt a part of them.
