Well, that was long. A very long story about the idle rich. I understand why the revolution was so successful in Russia; I wanted to kill many of these boring pointless rich folks as well. And the point? The point after 600+ pages is that the only thing t hat gives life purpose and meaning is faith in God. Stop arguing over politics, stop trying to improve society, shut up and have faith. If you don't you will only be actively (or passively) committing suicide. I actually liked Dolly. So I only gave it 3 stars because I can't figure out if I loved this book or absolutely hated it. The writing is beautiful and some scenes took my breath away...the horse race was incredible! I think it is the subject matter and the tragic characters that made me uncomfortable as to say I hated this book. They are so well crafted that I felt a part of them.
