I actually went into this book blind. My only knowledge of it was Carol Burnett’s “Went With the Wind” skit and I was aware of some controversy over using the word “damn” in the movie. I am the only person over 30 who has never seen the movie.



The book has high drama and often feels like an early soap opera. The book stars Scarlet O’Hara, a vain and self-centered but strong girl in Georgia during the Civil War and Reconstruction. She is a fascinating character but not the kind of person I’d like

STORY

I’m finding it very difficult to articulate my thoughts on this book. In brief - I loved it! I was swept up in Scarlett’s character and wanted to find out what happened to her and how she fared throughout. It was interesting to see how characters who had been raised in the same societal and social circles could turn out so differently.
