read way back in high school years before I'd ever seen the movie. (The book was better). I was an emotional teenager who went crying to mama during the sad parts (lol). I found this book fascinating and enjoyed the glimpse into the world for those in the south. Most books I have read about war focus on those serving in the military. What I loved about this book was its focus on life for those at home.
