Jake Sommers has made many sacrifices in his life. As a SEAL it's just another day at the office. You ignore your own wants and needs and do the right thing. So, when he had a way too close call with his fellow SEAL's sister Jake did the honorable thing and walked away before anyone got hurt. He has never been able to get her out of his head and now things have changed. Jake is no longer active and he's done a lot of growing up. He will stop at nothing to win the girl back. He knows this is not going to be easy. She has lost all trust in him. But, he'll stop at nothing to earn her love and her trust.

Michelle Carter had her heart broke by Jake and will not let it happen, again. Just because she has been tangled up in her brother's messy life and Jake is the only one that can help her doesn't mean that she has to lose her heart. Just because he's back, sexier than ever, and doing everything he can to win her back doesn't mean that she has to fall for it. Right?

This story held so much emotion my heart actually hurt in places. Jake had so many demons that he had to overcome and he worked so hard to do just that. The way he treated Michelle so patiently taking full blame for his actions was so refreshing and sweet. Not that sweet is even close to how I would describe Jake. Devastatingly sexy? Oh yes! Hot as fire and totally alpha? Yes and Yes!

Michelle was a strong woman who has had a lot of bad things happen in her lifetime, yet she's not allowed it to make her bitter or angry. I loved this about her. And I loved that even though she was determined to protect her heart from Jake she was never outright mean or catty with him. We need more adult characters in romance.

I can not wait to get to know more of these Black Knights.
