I always enjoy Lila Felix's books & this one was no different!

Crown Sterling is an arrogant, pompous douche pants athlete! He's the star soccer player until he gets hurt! He's shipped to Louisiana to his Uncles apartments to stay until he recovers. Lyra lives next door in the apartments. I felt bad for her! Obviously she was hurt really bad by someone & is scared to death! It was nice & refreshing watch them both grow! Lyra was exactly what Crown needed! He wanted to be better!

Lyra and Crown; what a beautiful love story. I would have taken another 100 pages of this story...:)
I received a free copy of this book in exchange of an honest review. The tension/attraction that is building up throughout the story is what I loved the most of this novel. There is nothing over the top, just old plain story of 2 people that had their things to deal with and that are fighting their mutual feelings. Really down to earth. I really wish I could give 1/2 stars. This one is a strong 3.5, in my mind.

Crown Sterling is the Kanye West of soccer, but I don't think even Kanye is as arrogant and self absorbed as Crown. No one is a better player than he, no woman can resist him, and nothing means more to him than the game. When Crown gets hurt in a game, he is sent to a small town in Louisiana to recover because that is all he can afford. He has an estranged uncle who has offered to let him stay for free in an apartment he I really wish I could give 1/2 stars. This one is a strong 3.5, in my mind.

When Crown gets hurt in a game, he is sent to a small town in Louisiana to recover because that is all he can afford. He has an estranged uncle who has offered to let him stay for free in an apartment he owns. The only catch - he needs to keep an eye out for anyone who might bother his neighbor, and act as protection if she needs it.

Lyra Marchand lives next door to that apartment, and is not amused when her nice, quiet life is disrupted by a loud, obnoxious, Crown. To quote the book: "He was a giant douche canoe who was paddling his way upstream to asshatland." Lyra is a model by trade, but never - ever - shows her face. It's one of her 'rules'. Years ago, Lyra's privacy was violated and it has left her deeply scarred. All mirrors are covered in her apartment, she constantly sweeps for bugs, looks for cameras, etc. She eschews as much technology (including answering machines) as possible. It doesn't help that the man who made her this was is scheduled to be released from prison in a few weeks!

Slowly, they comes to terms and meet half-way on many things...but will it last?

After reading the first few pages from Crown's point of view, I was close to putting it down. I really thought about it. But, being ever then analyst, I figured there must be something coming that put him in his place to let him know that his crap stinks, too.

Is it bad of me for being a little relieved when he got hurt? I wouldn't call it 'happy', because no one should go through that kind of pain. However, the way he is treated by those in his day-to-day life breaks my heart a little. Watching his shell break was very heartwarming, and gave me hope.

I really felt for Lyra. I know someone in real life who experienced what she did, and I understand her routines. The way she handled Crown was nothing short of exactly what he needed and deserved.

I had a really hard time putting the book down once I got started. I even stayed up late to finish it (1am), despite the fact that I had to be up at 6am to get ready for work.

So, why only 3.5 stars? The end felt rushed. There was one major loose end that was not resolved, as well as several other minor plot lines which required resolution on the characters part but were glossed over and treated like they never happened. I'm sorry, but if there are multiple people embezzling from me - I'm going to hang them from a tree by their ankles and tickle them til they return it. (to put it nicely)

We all know that one guy, the one that can barley fit in the same room as their ego. That is Crown, that is until something happens and he sees just how much people really care about him. Lyra is a broken young woman that just needs someone to protect her. The love that develops between these two is so heart warming and it is honestly what every woman that has ever loved the jerk is looking for. I could not put it down and was sad when it ended I could have kept on reading.
