3.5. I was fully prepared to hate this book, mostly because Holden Caulfield had been placed in this list in my head of the most insufferable characters in literature. I mean, don't get me wrong, he is insufferable, but in a semi-charming teenager kind of way. Would I want to hang out with him? Not likely, but his stream of consciousness journey through New York was an enjoyable read. ...more
