Memoirs of a Geisha, is about Chiyo and her extraordinary journey from childhood into geisha-hood. As a 9-year old, she is sold to be trained as a geisha and ends up in an okiya in Kyoto. 2005: I first read this book in college and loved it then. Its rare that I reread a book, but this one deserves to be read often. Amazing. It ranks with my all time favorite books.
