This whole plot seems insane about a remarkably bright octopus but yet it all made sense. I loved Tova and the relationship she gets at the end was an added cherry on top.

What a charming book. Certain to become a new favorite to recommend.

The real magic is the author wrote this (her first book) while in quarantine in 2020 with two small children. No small feat. Kudos to her and congratulations on the feel-good book of the year. 🐙

For me, this book is ABSOLUTELY worth the hype. Every component of the story works - from the kindhearted Tovar mourning the loss of her husband and son, to Marcellus the octopus grasping the arm of whoever reaches into his tank. It's a very sweet and sentimental story, and I'm glad I read it. ...more

4.5 only because other than Marcellus, a slow start for me

It was a nice story, but... a bit too much... how to put it... Deus ex machina? Things, like, just clicked in place.
The octopus was amazing, though. 5 stars to him.

I liked this, but I wanted more Marcellus and less Cameron. Cameron was annoying.
