Shelves: audiobooks, bookclub-grasslands, 2023-read, rws-2023-fall

This book is good. The writing is good. The emotions are real and vulnerable and thoughtful. The description of the relationship with her mother and her culture and everything is good. It's worth reading.

I just didn't really like it. I think it must be me, and not the book. My bookclub chose this one because Michelle Zauner was going to be performing at a music festival. Then the music festival got cancelled. So now she won't be. Maybe I'm holding that against the book. Unfair, but there it is.

No sabía nada de esta historia cuando comencé a leerla y, al ir avanzando en la trama, mis sentimientos se vieron arrastrados en una ola tras otra.

Michelle, la protagonista y narradora, ha tenido una relación difícil con su madre a lo largo de su vida, especialmente por su interés por desarrollar una carrera musical. This is the story of how one survives after the death of a mother. It was sad, but also kept your attention.

The author is very talented. She is a musician, writer and even performs the audible - and did an amazing job.

I came away from it... wanting to eat asian food, travel and love on my family.

Amazing memoir that explores food, culture, personal growth, grief and - most importantly - a complex (aren’t they all?) and beautiful mother-daughter relationship. I laughed, cried, and called my own mother.
