What a breath of fresh—yet deadly and horrifyingly loyal—air. This book managed to be a quick, light read while also making powerful points about superficial men, societal objectification of women and the intensity of the bond between sisters. Plus I think I just really like the Nigerian sensibility—I’ve loved so many recent books I’ve read by Nigerian women.

For such a disturbing topic (yes, the protagonist's sister is literally a serial killer), this novel is surprisingly flat. For me, the fact that it's set in Nigeria is a plus, but she describe a lot about the location and culture. ...more
