My Sister, the Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite is a delightfully dark and subversive little novel, with richly developed characters and a strong sense of place and culture. I felt like I could picture the settings in Lagos (Nigeria), from the slower pace of life in the people working around Korede, the jammed traffic, the pristine hospital, to the corrupt traffic police, the social norms and perceptions of the sisters' father to local police criminal investigation protocol.
