This one has been on my to-read since I heard about it, and it was really disappointing! It is part of the Austen project, where famous authors re-write Austen novels. This one was a retelling of Pride and Prejudice. I disliked how everything was so modern (transgenders! Cross-fit!) yet Darcy (also modern) used words like "ardently" and "my darling" in 2013. Eligible by Curtis Sittenfeld is a satire of Jane Eyre meets Pride and Prejudice. I was surprised to find that I really loved it. Most of the choices for updating the story actually worked really well. If I wasn't already a huge P&P fan it might not have done as much for me, but I was eager to see how she would handle various plot developments and I couldn't stop listening.
