What a fantastic book! It's been awhile since I read a book that elicited such very strong emotional and physical reactions from me. Stories that made me laugh hysterically (the poop one was just hilarious, without being insulting to those involved) and weep and be furious and learn so, so much. I had read good things about this book ages ago so thats really what provoked me to put this on my wait list. Very glad I did. Its amazing the childhood Trevor had and his mother is quite the inspiration. And while serious subject matter, there were still very funny stories along the way. A fantastic read.

I thought I was listening to an action novel. I am blown away at the stark difference between the Trevor Noah we see and think we know on TV to his childhood. Trevor’s mom is definitely a woman of strong faith, love and wisdom. I love his truth about language and racism. I really enjoyed this book.

Really great. I definitely recommend the audiobook. Noah really captures the time and place of him growing up. A good balance of funny and heartfelt.
