I had read good things about this book ages ago so thats really what provoked me to put this on my wait list. Very glad I did. Its amazing the childhood Trevor had and his mother is quite the inspiration. And while serious subject matter, there were still very funny stories along the way. A fantastic read.
I learned so much about apartheid from listening. The audio version is read by Trevor himself. He certainly found a lighthearted, comical way to share what must have been an incredibly hard life for Trevor and his family.
Wow wow wow what an amazing story. Or really stories. Trevor Noah talks about his upbringing in post apartheid South Africa. There’s just so much here — his headstrong mother in a dangerous situation, trying to make a living by selling burned cds, a kid named Hitler. I really enjoyed these stories ad his very insightful commentary. Smart guy that one.
I thought I was listening to an action novel. I am blown away at the stark difference between the Trevor Noah we see and think we know on TV to his childhood. Trevor’s mom is definitely a woman of strong faith, love and wisdom. I love his truth about language and racism. I really enjoyed this book.
