If you can suspend disbelief (because really, how coincidental is it that all these people are this completely messed up?), this is a lot of fun. Unlikable characters, lots of shocking twists and turns, every chapter a new crazy revelation. You just have to remember that it’s layers on layers of unrealistic, and be prepared for even the end to be over the top nuttiness.
Ok - so this is the second time I've read Shari Lapena's book- and I still wasn't convinced of her writing. It's quite amateurish (both the characters and the crime itself), with more "telling" style - she just shoved her narrative to us and dictated what we should think, instead of giving hints here and there and made her characters more compelling. Like- I don't feel connected to any of the characters, they are just a bunch of uninteresting people.

Very good mystery/thriller. We start out right off the bat with Anne and Marco's baby being stolen from her crib while they are at a dinner party next door. That in itself is heartbreaking but this is a thriller, so the main idea is to keep up guessing not mourn with this couple. (Thankfully)
There are some good twists and turns and no major shockers - but the last few pages had a nice little "didn't really see that one coming" that was enjoyable. ...more

This was goooood. It didn't keep me guessing, but I like how the author slowly revealed the plot twists.
