I like the concept, the design, and most of the ideas within, but all the hype I've come across ended up making me a bit disappointed. I liked the book well enough, but apart from the beginning, I thought the rest could have been more developed.

According to my children, shopping at IKEA is its own horror story. Agreed, it can be a bit of a nightmare, and the inability to exit until you’ve walked the whole damn store is stress-inducing. Horrorstor is creatively packaged like an IKEA catalog and signature Grady Hendrix style. ORSK is a knockoff IKEA store that was built on the site of an old penitentiary. When a handful of employees spend the night in the store, the ghosts of the past resurface and all hell breaks loose!
The hook for this book is its spot-on mimicry of IKEA catalogs and its setting in an satirically IKEA-like store. But the story is actually well-written and engaging. I think it would be particularly affecting for readers who have had to rely on retail work for survival.

Well written and incredibly creepy
This was a surprising book full of twists I didn't see coming. Scary, especially for someone like me who isn't usually a horror reader, but intensely interesting. If you like horror or just want a good intellectual scare, read this for sure. ...more
