I am going to give this book a full three stars when I really should just give it 2.5 - the .5 star is for the importance of the message that she is putting forth in her work.
I liked quite a few of the pieces, but many I felt like were almost word for word sentiments that could easily be found on any social media post out there. I think it's a good read, and as all poetry about pain and loss there are important, relate-able themes that never hurt to reconsider. ...more

Eh. This is a series of sort of connected “poems” about relationships, self worth, trauma, longing, and desire. But it tries too hard to be edgy and risqué and comes off as trite and repetitive, like a series of linked inspirational Instagram posts. I do think that I might have found this very profound and powerful if I had read it in my early 20s. I did enjoy the sketchy illustrations.
Such a good confessional poetry read. I loved this book, and loved sharing it with my youngest sister recently, who has been going through a rough time and figuring out important things in her life. I wasn't entirely in love with the art under my own aesthetic loves/likes, but I am glad the artist is expressing herself in all these ways.
