As a fan of the series, I was one of the midnight readers eagerly awaiting her Hogwarts' fix. A disappointing beginning, feeling like a rehashing of the previous novels, quickly turned into a fast-paced sprint to the ultimate battle. I was looking forward to reading another Harry Potter book - returning to that world is so comfortable and familiar by now. The characters are similar, although wizened and maybe a bit more cautious about losing everything, compared to the types of kids they were before. I especially like Draco in this play, which is saying something, but he has really chosen who he wants to be and it's not someone I hate.

Was it as good as the series? No, but it was a darned sight better than quite a bit of what's out there so I liked it. Wish it had been released as a novella instead of a play script.
