What Members Thought

In the long run, after hearing much said about this book, I expected it to be much worse than it turned out to be really. I really am a fan of a good time-travel caper, with the antics and twists that only come from those, when people decide to throw their hats into the ring about it, and I'm definitely still left with the want to see the play on stage, if/when I make it to London or it makes it to America.

There were quite a few things I really enjoyed about this play and the things thought were ok were still good. I loved the new characters, particularly Scorpious. He was funny and endearing; a real treat of a character. Albus reminds me of the sullen, moody Harry of books 4 & 5. Not surprising as this is the age Albus is for most of the play.
The grown up characters of Harry, Ron, and Hermione are well written into adulthood and make me happy.
All together charming and worth the read.

*sigh* It's so good to read a Harry Potter story again. Seriously SO GOOD. I loved the story, I loved the characters. I know I would LOVE to see the play and I tried really hard to let my imagination run wild picturing the story on stage as I read it. I gave it 4 stars just because I know I would have enjoyed the story significantly more if it had all the beautiful details that JK Rowling is able to include in her story telling that simply can't be incorporated into a play script. The emotions,

I think that this story is great! Well defined characters and queues to follow. As for the bad complaints because this is written as a script, please read the title of the book first. It is plainly stated that it is the sceenplay, and not a novel. This really has done a great job of giving us more information about the wizarding world that we all know and love. I hope that JK decides to do more, whether on her own or as more screenplays would be wonderful.

Harry's youngest son, Albus Severus, struggles to live up to his father's legacy. Harry struggles to be the father his son needs.
Albus' efforts to right a terrible wrong open the door to an unthinkable future. A world where Voldemort wins.
Slightly mixed feelings, but overall I liked it. I'm not a fan of reading plays, so that made it a bit harder to get into. ...more

Not as good as the books, though I didn't expect it to be given it's a screenplay and not written by Rowling, but still a great and compelling story.

Was it as good as the series? No, but it was a darned sight better than quite a bit of what's out there so I liked it. Wish it had been released as a novella instead of a play script.
