One of the best books I've read this year. I loved it and think it is Shteyngart's best so far, far surpassing Absurdistan in humor, innovation, and overall quality. Excuse me while I gush, but I just adore his turns of phrases, on point descriptive abilities. Disturbing, in that this book closely reflects the direction in which our society is heading. Also, I do not believe that Lenny ever truly loved Eunice. He was just obsessed with her youth and beauty, and with his own demise. I am unsure of Eunice's feelings for Lenny, I think by the end she did finally love him.

I really loved this book, even if it scared me. The world that Shteyngart creates hits a little too close to home in many ways...a world where people "scan" for info and hate books because they smell- not my idea of a bright future.

The premise of this novel was interesting, and I enjoyed the future dystopia and its satirical look at where smartphones and social networks are leading us. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a character to sympathize with. Sure, they are living in difficult and extraordinary times, but you have to give me someone to root for.
