Okay, I'll admit it. To my endless, secret shame, I have a weakness for self-help books. The Secret reminds me of a seminar I went to back in the early 90's called "The Forum." It was basically the same idea: that our thoughts and our perspective influence the world.

This is my second go and reading The Secret. It’s come up a few times during my 2019 Lenten journey so I decided I needed to revisit it. After reading or, in this case, re-reading I’ve come to the conclusion that I needed a reminder that the law of attraction, that like attracts like, is a real concept and I need to refocus on the positive instead of continually dwelling in the negative.
Oprah finally got to me. The whole premise of the book is that if you tell the universe what you want, you will get it. I told the universe I want more financial stability, and I got a job promotion the next day. It hasn't worked yet in any other aspect of my life, but at least I got a raise out of it.

Didn't read cover to cover, but I think I know "The Secret". I don't quite know what to make of this secret (our thoughts have unbelievable powerful influences on our lives). Interesting concept.

I wanted to see what all the hype was about. I thought this book was very poorly written. It is mostly just quotes that seem a little disjointed. The focus on money was a big turnoff.
