It still boggles my mind that slavery can exist in this day and age. I can't understand what makes certain people feel they have the right to enslave others. Somaly Mam's story is as heartbreaking and infuriating as I can imagine. I highly recommend reading this book because it not only informs but also makes one feel hopeful and able to take action against sexual slavery.

This was a painful and somewhat depressing read. But by the end of the book, I felt a bit of hope for the good things the author is trying to do for little girls sold into sexual slavery in Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and other Asian countries. I admire Somaly for making something worthwhile out of her life, in spite of how it began and the horrific trials she suffered. A remarkable story and well worth anyone's time.
