I enjoyed reading this, but I felt that the drama was forced. I always love Moriarty's use of internal dialogue, but this didn't make up for the weak, obvious plot. ...more

In a world where there's only six degrees of separation between people, one action can create a change of events that forever alters a community. In Moriarty's signature style, readers are introduced to three characters who at first sight have no correlation with each other. As the story progresses, their lives intertwine and reveal they all are hiding secrets from their loved ones. A letter, beads and a piece of the Berlin Wall, at first sight seem like innocent souvenirs but will expose a twis ...more

In some ways I liked this book more than the other two Liane Moriarty books I've read (Big Little Lies & What Alice Forgot). I found the characters to be more realistic and there weren't as many off-the-wall side characters to deal with. The story itself still had moments when it stretched the idea of being realistic, but overall I found it more believable than some of the other books. Entertaining, multi-perspective on how secrets affect us. The author's way of getting inside so many characters' heads is enthralling. I was going to read Big Little Lies but ended up with this one instead and I am so glad that did.

I don't want to spoil it for anyone but if you need some easy, grip-you-by-the-gut reading this is the book you'll want to pick up.

3.5 stars. A good audiobook (I always love to hear audiobooks read by British or Australian actors if the writer is either/book set in those countries)—but it took me foreeever to get through. Some of the chapters may have felt gratuitous in audio form that may not have felt so if reading the words.

A delicious read - part mystery, part romance, part tragedy, party joy! First time reading this author and I loved her characters and the way her story flowed between different ( but merging) story lines! A fast read that makes you appreciate what you have!
