This is the first Discworld book, and the fourth I have read. It's partly an introduction to Discworld, with a lot of Discworld geography and cosmography, and partly the story of the failed wizard Rincewind and Twoflower, the first tourist. This was an enjoyable tale with likable, entertaining characters. I've heard so much about Terry Pratchett, and I can't believe it's taken me this long to delve into the Discworld series. This one wasn't great, but I've heard that about the first few, so I wasn't disappointed. I'm confident they will get better and my enjoyment will only grow.

The Big Discworld Re-read begins...
And this is where it all began. It took a few books for Pterry to find his voice properly, so this is not one of the best books in the series. It's also a little frenetic, he obviously had a lot of ideas for the new universe and tried to squeeze an awful lot of them into less than 300 pages, leaving it heaving at the seams a little.
