OMG what a great book! I was initially sceptical given the sheer number of pages but the story kept good pace and in the end I just couldn't put it down!
There are some great characters amongst the company, some you really feel for and some you want to throttle. Plenty of twists and turns throughout that keep you guessing to the end. ...more

Great depiction of England in 1348 during the first plague from the point of view of an unlikely group of pilgrims traveling together who tell their tales to pass the time. Well researched and great characters. Not sure I'd go so far as to compare it to Chaucer as some reviewers have, but certainly a great story.
