Shelves: comedy, acrma8, essays

I enjoyed some of the stories, but some fell a little flat. I liked “The Youth in Asia” best, and I also found myself laughing during the lost in translation stories in the second half of the book like the title essay and “Jesus Shaves.”

Some of David Sedaris's stories actually verge on heartbreaking if looked at in a different light, but he is really funny. His books are great on audio, as he performs them himself, and his timely dry wit comes through in performance. ...more

I don't think I've ever made this claim before but this was funniest book I've ever read. However, I do not recommend reading on the train surrounded by people who apparently disapprove of any type of noise (laughter included). ...more
