When Coraline came out in the movie theaters this year I could not wait to see it. I had not heard of Neil Gaiman at the time and as a result, the movie was a pleasant surprise to me.
As a fan of movies such as The Nightmare Before Christmas and The Corpse Bride I knew upon seeing the preview for Coraline that this would be a story I would love, and it did not disappoint.

Popsugar 2019 Reading Challenge: A book you see someone reading on TV or in a movie.
In this case, it was the book Chloe was reading to her daughter in Season 2 of Lucifer.
This is the second time I've encountered a Neil Gaiman book I've thought worked better as a movie (the first was Stardust, which is a seriously underrated fantasy movie). “When you’re scared but you still do it anyway, that’s brave” - Coraline
Although written as a children’s book, Coraline is great for all ages. The bravery Coraline shows as she battles her “other mother” in the mirrored world behind the brick-walled-door to save her parents and the souls of other children, can be appreciated by adults and children. This fairy tale has just the right amount of creepy. I won’t look at button-eyed dolls the same way. Quick, fun read. Great for boys and girls becaus ...more
