I love this author. I listened to Ta-Nehisi read the book - there was so much to listen to, i had to really, really listen. I loved this essay or almost letter to the author's son. He said so many insightful things. This is the kind of story that can be taught in a college seminar and it would take weeks to get through it. The words that stayed with me the most were "my body." Should be required reading for every human person, particularly those with privilege who struggle to recognize what that privilege is built on and from, and what the consequences are for all of us.

It’s hard to rate a book like this. I have a lot to process and it was very helpful, but it wasn’t written for me and I am so ignorant on this issue. I have a lot more to learn before I start assigning stars to a black man’s book on race.
This book is beautiful and true and terrible all at once. You will return to it again and again and glean something new from its pages each time. Believe the hype, this is a must read.
The audio is read by the author, which is a great way to experience this powerful work
