This book has so much potential, an interesting topic of the history of comic books and arts in America, before and after the World War II, with two Jewish cousins as the main characters. I love the setting, the intriguing parts about the birth of a legendary superhero (The Escapist!), and I also like how it was related to the escape of Joe, one of the cousins, from his hometown, Prague, during Hitler's rising regime.
But! I honestly though this book is too long. Some parts are just too ...more

Wow. This book is amazing. I loved it. I was hesitant and skeptical at first, and it did actually take a little bit before I was completely into it, but man it was worth it. I think part of my skepticism was based two things: I have read another of Chabon’s books, Wonder Boys and didn’t care too much for it. And I think the second was the topic.
