One of my reading challenge tasks for 2016 was to read a book I hadn't read since high school. I figured I'd pick up Flowers in the Attic and give it another whirl since I remembered very little of it, and what I thought I remembered I was just *sure* couldn't be right... Oh boy. I almost gave it 4 stars because it's the kind of book you just can't put down, but the ick factor got the better of my rating and kept me at a solid 3. Another VC Andrews book that I first read during my teenage years. This was the creepiest series of the ones I read by her.

This book was pretty messed up, though actually a bit tamer than I expected it to be. I won't say that it was great, but it definitely had me wanting to know what happened next, and I almost even want to read the sequels just because I want to know if Cathy ever gets her revenge.

EDIT: Never mind, I think that reading the spoilery reviews for the remaining books in the series is enough for me. Still, it was good, trashy fun.

I watched the movie and had to read the book. I ended up reading the series and liked each book less and less. They were such that I had to keep reading to find out what happened, but not one of those books that you recommend or say that it was really worth spending time on.
