What Members Thought

This was a very well written book. Even though I gave it four stars, I would have a hard time recommending it because it is very crass and has too many "F" words. This book took me through a roller coaster of emotions as the author unfolded the story. The characters were complex and the storyline intriguing and when you get to the end you are trying to find anyone who has read it so you can talk about it.

I would actually give this a 3.5. It was a good mystery/thriller, with quite a few reversals and surprises, and enjoyable to read. Some of the writing was quite good. This was definitely a book where none of the characters were likable (except maybe Go), which didn't bother me - it just added to the atmosphere. It was made more interesting to me because we drove through Hannibal MO last summer, and it was exactly as described in the book - a creepily quiet and depressed almost-ghost-town.

There were so many unexpected plot twists, I wasn't able to predict what would happen next like I often can. Also, Nick and Amy totally deserve each other.

Incredible, anxiety-inducing, and awful in a good way. I'm going to go hug my husband now.

I like Flynn's writing style. I am not happy about the end...but c'est la vie.
