Reasons this book is good to read:
* You can clearly see the influence it had on The Scarlet Pimpernel, Sherlock Holmes, The Princess Bride, and even James Bond and later the Mission Impossible TV series. So ... yay?

I think maybe I need to just admit that I’m a cretin who cannot abide the wordiness of Victorian literature. I keep banging my head against that wall, trying to be more erudite and read the Classics, but it just isn’t happe ...more
