Oh, this was so painfully realistic. The in-betweenness of the age of Rose and Windy, wanting boobs, almost studying the "townies" of their beach getaway town Awago, like trying to peer behind the curtain of grown-upness. This graphic novel won't change your world, and it might not even be the best graphic novel you read all year (unless you only read this and like the graphic novelization of Twilight), but it is worth it for decent bildungsroman with a female main character. The characters were interesting, including Rose's parents, and the lake teenager townies. A coming of age story with the best artwork of any of the graphic novels I have read so far.
It is the story of two girls who meet up every summer in a place called Awago beach. Rose and Windy spend the summer watching horror movies, swimming in the lake, and becoming obsessed with the lives of the older teenagers that live in Awago while dealing with the drama of their own lives.

This is an interesting graphic novel, but I'm mostly rating it a 2.5 because it was not what I expected when I borrowed in from the library. I expected a traditional story line, with tension and buildup and a big climax. I guess there was a big climax that resolved some things, but I felt like the scenes before and after that were more vignette than story, more poetic and brief without really doing anything.
