Much less serious than Huck Finn, this story is all about the adventure and fun of being a kid. Tom is clever and full of tricks. I remember the first time I read about Tom convincing all of his friends how much fun he was having whitewashing that fence. Soon, he had them doing all the work for him.

A classic from Twain that is appropriate for all.

Very readable, easy to see why this story would have been so popular -- especially with boys -- when it was first published.
