I read this graphic novel to preview it's content for daughter. Content wise, I would let her read it, but it just annoyed me. I'm torn because I liked the overall premise of a sidekick helping a not-so-evil-supervillan, and I loved the supervillan-Blackheart, I also liked the story line in general. That said, I was frustrated by Nimona's immature irrational character and the fantasy component of the book didn't have parameters. Nimona shapeshifts which is an understandable power, but then she i

** spoiler alert ** I was ill-prepared for this web comic turned graphic novel. Nimona is quite a character - spunky, smart, powerful, funny, clever, vulnerable, protective, and much more. If you like all the feels and a villain that will steal your heart, this YA graphic is for you. The artist and author's way of conveying emotion in a single panel is masterful and almost had me in tears on the bus to work.

This was cute! It wasn't terribly substantial, but it was entertaining and the weird melding of sci-fi and fantasy settings was cool. I'm definitely going to check out the movie adaptation!
