What an awesome piece of work. This is such an important, although it's very hard to get through because it's so dense. I'm so glad Gordon-Reed wrote this book and gave me so much to think about. It's absolutely radical to put Jfferson's Black family on par with his white family and the author did that over and over again as she did her best to tell us about the Hemings family. ...more
