Well, I read it all. That's a start. And sometimes I try to read a book before I read the reviews, just to give it a chance. And based on one person's recommendation, and my book club's reading list, I downloaded the book (dang you e-reader for making me neglect actual, physical books), and I read it.

What I liked: all the references and connections to children's literature. Books I know as a second grade teacher. Heck! I know the title and the author....something I'm not even good at with my fa

SPOILER ALERT***

I enjoyed this book, but felt it didn't live up to the hype. I read about this book everywhere and how amazing it was and I didn't feel that as I read it. I also had a huge issue with the fact that the librarian pretty much kidnaps a 10 year old and nothing ever happens to her!! After reading the great believers I waned to read more of this author’s books. Enjoyed this so much. This is a perfect book for readers, because there a lot of literary references to other books, so many that I’m sure I missed many of them. Loved all the witty banter between the characters and the librarians insight that a lot of this journey was about her past and possible projection.

Enjoyable read with an unrealistic plot. The author does get a lot right about libraries and librarians, however!

Quirky and bookish...so much potential that just tanked about halfway through. Disappointing ending.

Definitely some unresolved plot points and it required a serious suspension of disbelief, but a fun enough read.

The premise of this book is pretty off the wall and I have a hard time relating to drifting, twenty something characters, but I found the writing style and literary allusions in this book delightful. Also, can't fault a book arguing that reading can change lives. ...more
