This was a poignant day to finish this book, the day after the 2020 ”Super Tuesday” primaries, when Warren failed to win Massachusetts, Oklahoma, and Texas - all of her “home states.” I won’t lie, this book made me cry, and not least because of the heart-breaking passages about her dog Otis’s illness and death. I walked into work with a heavy heart today.

On to the book! What did I think of the book?

The first chapter covers Warren’s life prior to her involvement in politics: her childhood, educat

Sign me up as an Elizabeth Warren fangirl. I have a soft spot for these personal/political memoirs read by the politician. I listened to both of Obama's books while he was first campaigning and find this book to be in a similar vein. She tells of her background, her experience as a professor, then as a Washington player, and finally as a surprising Senator. I like her brand of economic populism and her strong willingness to be a voice for people. This memoir reads well and remains interesting, e ...more

Through it my respect for Elizabeth Warren increased exponentiality as I learned how she spent her entire career before running for the Senate fighting for regular, working people. It was heart ...more

Surprisingly interesting and accessible. Made me feel more hopeful about politics moving in a positive direction and about the value of everyday people participating in politics. I listened to the audio version, read by Warren herself and found her to be a great reader, too.

It's not that the writing is so engaging. It's the ideas that are. I think Elizabeth Warren is smart, cares about the right things and recently, her thinking has become increasingly complex...a good thing. Her experience as a senator has made her tougher and smarter. So I'm glad that I read this, because I feel as though I know her politics and values...As her daughter tells her, she's not particularly funny...but she is determined, smart and doesn't give up. She's learned the battles to fight a ...more
