This was a poignant day to finish this book, the day after the 2020 ”Super Tuesday” primaries, when Warren failed to win Massachusetts, Oklahoma, and Texas - all of her “home states.” I won’t lie, this book made me cry, and not least because of the heart-breaking passages about her dog Otis’s illness and death. I walked into work with a heavy heart today.

Sign me up as an Elizabeth Warren fangirl. I have a soft spot for these personal/political memoirs read by the politician. I listened to both of Obama's books while he was first campaigning and find this book to be in a similar vein. It's not that the writing is so engaging. It's the ideas that are. I think Elizabeth Warren is smart, cares about the right things and recently, her thinking has become increasingly complex...a good thing. Her experience as a senator has made her tougher and smarter. So I'm glad that I read this, because I feel as though I know her politics and values...As her daughter tells her, she's not particularly funny...but she is determined, smart and doesn't give up. She's learned the battles to fight a
