What the heck did I just read? A rural family prepares to bury their mother (who was horrible) and terrible things ensue. Arson, injury, abortion, racism, rape, adultery, vanity—wow...just...wow. I guess the one redeeming quality of this book is that Cash, the literary namesake of my son, is the one good and kind character.
