I have nothing good to say about this book. It was boring, very boring. The narrative jumped all over the place and was very odd. AND... unlike its description it is not gripping or unforgettable. In fact, I just finished it today and I'm pretty sure I've already forgotten about it! ...more

All the blurbs on this book say it is the “European Gone Girl” which I haven’t read. I didn’t make the connection until three quarters of the way into the book, at which point the story really comes off the rails. What I found really frightening was the repeated use of the quote Anna Karenina “All happy families are alike; all unhappy families are unhappy in their own way.” In this case switch out unhappy with psychopathic and you have a pretty good theme to the book. I'll rate/review closer to this month's book club meeting

I had a hard time deciding on the rating -- this was one creepy book with a dearth of likable characters. In fact, I can't say I liked any of them very much by the time I got to the end. However, I liked the way the story evolved and seeing how a seemingly innocuous dinner turned into something else.
