This is a deceptively simple, yet beautifully transcendent book about human...in New York. If you've read and appreciated Stanton's blog, then you already know what you have to look forward to. I love the Humans of New York photos and stories posted on Facebook. I thoroughly enjoyed having a whole book full of those kinds of photos and stories to devour. Other than the work of hefting this VERY heavy book (quality paper for quality photos I guess?) around for a few days, I loved it. Poignant stories, funny stories, sad stories, inspirational stories, thought-provoking stories -they're all in there, and it's a great experience to soak them all in. I like the premise behind this book: everyone you pass on the street has a story. Unfortunately if this book is any indication there are a lot of sad people out there.
Excellent, excellent book. HIGHLY recommend.

This wasn't quite what I expected. I had hoped for new content and more stories of the people in the photographs, but instead much of the content I had already seen via Facebook or Instagram, and the text was the same or similar to what is posted on those sites. ...more
