I read this book because Brown's first novel, Angels & Demons, was given to me by my brother, and it absolutely blew me away. I was expecting something similar with the Da Vinci Code, but for me, the same magic just wasn't there. It moves really fast, but the urgency just wasn't there for me as much. I had read Holy Blood, Holy Grail before this as well, so the twist wasn't quite as shocking for me as it was for some, and I guess to a lot of people that is what made the book. I think the best th

The first time I read the book, I got so caught up in the story I missed quite a few things. I probably would have given it 4 stars. However, I read it a second time because I enjoyed it so much. Wow, what a difference. I could barely make it through the second time because I realized how bad the writing was. My suggestion ... read it once and enjoy plot but ignore the writing.
