This is one of my favorite Christmas reads. You get a little of everything here: mystery, romance, adventure, and holiday cheer.
The author is from Virginia where I was born and raised and it is always fun to find small towns close to my hometown written into books

The Christmas Train by David Baldacci. Whenever I start a new adventure, I like to pick up a book at the airport whose main character is on his own journey. When I came across The Christmas Train, despite it's Christmas in July theme, the chapter opened with 'Tom Langdon was a journalist, a globetrotting one, because it was in his blood to roam widely' I knew I found my book.

Made me want to ride a cross country train, but I couldn’t understand Tom’s interest in Ellie. A little to contrived and cheesy but not unexpected from this author.

Fantastic! Such a delight to read during the holidays. I want to book a train trip with Amtrak right now! Great writing, interesting characters, crazy mother-nature weather, and some suspense. One slight flaw...I didn't like the explanation at the end. ...more
