This was a surprisingly exhausting read for me. I enjoyed my time in Mitford but may wait a while before I read the next book in the series. There wasn't a whole lot of suspense or edginess in this book and after a while I was worn out by Father Tim and his worsening health and his unwillingness/inability to take care of himself consistently.

Very quaint. My parents loved these books and my boyfriend is family friends with her so I wanted to give them a try. I got the whole series for free in Iraq. I will read them all, and it did inspire me to have a dinner party, but QUITE a different genre than I'm used to. Still very good and wholesome.

Father Tim, an Episcopalian priest, cares for his friends and loved ones in the small town of Mitford. This made me laugh and made me cry. Karon's characters remind me of Elizabeth Cadell's and Agnes Sligh Turnbull's people. You miss them when you finish the book. I must read more of the series.
