I read this as a child and HATED it (hence the earlier one star). It's the first book I can remember quitting because I disliked it so much. But I got the pretty new hardcover Penguin Classics version, so thought I'd give it another (now adult) try.

I read this as a teenager. I liked it then. Rereading it as an adult was actually kinda boring. I think this is because I knew the plot twists that were coming. I felt it dragged in places. Too much detail. But that is me reading it for a purpose (book group) and wanting to move on to something else so I think that tempered my feeling towards the book as an adult.
