An absolutely fascinating read. Although theoretically aimed at the layperson this is not a simple read and I was definitely helped by my background in A-Level maths and chemistry, a decade-and-a-half rusty though it is! Up to about half way through I was following everything pretty well, the latter half of the book where Hawking starts combining the general theory of relativity and quantum mechanics I was following a bit more loosely. I’m sure this book is fabulous. So take my review with a grain of salt.
Honestly, the only reason that I didn’t rate it higher is because I didn’t find it really accessible to the “layman”. I’m not a stupid person. I am fairly knowledgeable in all kinds of math, science, and space theories. However, it is extremely clear after reading this book that I am no where near “Stephen Hawking’s” smart. 🙃
If you are insanely smart, you’ll probably have a more enjoyable experience with this book ...more

This was really an interesting book, and it gives a good relatively easy to understand look at the beginnings of our universe. The problem is that these concepts are so hard to wrap your head around--imaginary time? My brain exploded--that you feel like you don't really understand everything he's saying. Still, a good read, and the man's obviously a complete genius.
