I've read Nick Hornby's novels before but this one is actually his first published work that raised his name in the writer world. As usual, I don't really get the Brit humor (very dry and too dark for my tastebud), but there are some that were pretty hilarious though. (Anna? Anna who? Anna Green Gables? Anna Conda? Haha)

Quick read, fairly funny and Hornby again scores with fun snappy dialogue. The main character in this book is a bit of a loser and I didn’t find him totally sympathetic. But I didn’t completely dislike him either. The lists are great and I loved all the references to mix tapes (remember those?), bands and songs. I hate to say it, but this may be a better read for a man, as two great readers (my brother and Jer) both really liked this book. This is my second Hornby, and I am willing to try again.
