I keep a big, soft spot in my heart for Nora Ephron, and another big soft spot for autobiographical sketches, so I really enjoyed this little volume. To completely live the cliche, I read the stories in a Lush bubble bath, glass of wine in hand, and was not disappointed by the experience. Reading Nora is like a long chat with my mother: comforting, silly, and occasionally marked with an awkward overshare.

I really like the way Nora Ephron writes, but I think I'd have enjoyed this more if I was older -- I think my mom would have enjoyed this more than I did, simply because the stuff that Ephron deals with in her essays is stuff that, frankly, doesn't apply to my life. With the exception of her essay about hating her purse: because I, too, hate my purse, and I, too, have a tendency toward carrying a purse that serves an a life-substitute (full of single Tic-Tacs and tampons out of their wrappers).
